Lutheran Youth Pastor Forgives Teztel and Leo X

In a move characteristic of Lutheran Grace, the esteemed Minster of Youth Ministries for the AFLC branch St. Matthews Evangelical Lutheran Church, Y.P. Wally Fresh has extended forgiveness on the previously excommunicated Johann Tetzel and Pope Leo X.

"It has become clear that the Grace of God, so prevalent in the Universal Lutheran Church, is proclaimed for even the worst of sinners. It is in that spirit that Mr's Tetzel and X become poster children for the magnitude of God's awesome and all consuming forgiveness."

"That most holy of doctrines now established, we now induct Johann Tetzel and Pope Leo X into the Lutheran Hall of Grace. Welcome home brothers, welcome home."

A controversial move to be sure, but one scholar noted, "The Lutheran Church was birthed from controversy." One of the parishioners present was overheard saying, "Truly we will see peace in our time." Only time will reveal the full impact of this monumental declaration. As the religious commentator Bod Dylan said: "Times they are a changin'."

The Penny Carnival

Well as the new season settles in, and the grass and the leaves grow greener by the day, it seems the Lord is reminding us "It's time to go outside and play!"

With that idea in mind St. Matthews presents the Community Garage Sale/Penny Carnival 2010. All dedicated to having a little family fun in the sun and raising a little money for a Mission to Bolivia.

Bring the family down, take a look at some of the "treasure", play some games, win some prizes and go home feeling like a champion!

Starting Fresh

Well with summer over and another school year begun, it's time to get back to business. And here at St. Matthews, business takes on a very different meaning...

We are starting a whole new youth program, designed to ramp up the fun, explore new people and places, and find some new challenges along the way. And most importantly dig into the Holy Bible as our guide in all we do.

So we want to invite everybody grades 7 to 12 to join us in these adventures to know Christ, and know the people He has put around us.
